What?! You don’t know whose great idea it was to let manufacturing leave? I had to listen to that twice to make sure I heard it correctly. It wasn’t any one person or thing that caused this to happen. Ever hear of a little thing called NAFTA? That Bill Clinton put into effect? (Who is one of my favorite presidents, by the way.). In addition, transportation became better, cheaper, and faster thus ushering in the practicality of shipping in stuff from halfway around the globe. Plus other factors that I won’t take the space to get into here.
The problem is NOT in the free trade aspect of this. The mistake that was made, and continues to be made, is that we did/do not make the same requirements of the foreign manufacturers as we do of our own. This is what creates the un-level playing field. They should have to abide by the same OSHA, wage, and other worker laws and regulations as our manufacturing companies have to. They should have to prove they are abiding by them by submitting to random inspections and providing the same documentation that we require of our companies. Force them to PROVE their compliance or have their ability to export revoked.
The answer is NOT to take away the laws, rules, and regulations that our companies have to abide by, as the republican clown car would have you think. The answer IS to force foreign manufacturers to abide by those same laws, rules, and regulations - at minimum.

Or allow only selected people to vote. The fascist strategy is to cause chaos until the political, social and legal systems break down. I paid into it from the time I first started working at 18 and I worked until I was 74.
