This is fascinating. I'm 68, the world has just expanded beyond anything previously imaginable in my lifetime. The "your friend is just wonderful" story is really on the nose. We're dealing with humans (well, maybe not Andrew Tate, but that's for another time), and humans are flawed little balls of contradiction. Humans will tie themselves into massive knots trying to justify themselves sideways into accepting a new reality that they want to accept but can't allow themselves to do directly (because... reasons).
Example time: I'm a Southern WASP. My bother-in-law is a Palestinian Jordanian professor in Texas. He's a fine man and smarter than a bus-load of me. His very MAGA neighbors, struggling to overcome the cognitive dissonance of aligning the reality of this kind, smart man with the cartoon Arabs stomping around in their brains, refer to him as "A Fine Christian Man". He prays facing Mecca three times a day.
I no longer even get surprised by this kind of confusion in people. We're just jumped-up chimps, after all. With nuclear weapons.
I continue to SMFH at this notion that individuals believe the government is ignoring them. Whenever a good piece of legislation is passed, I think, "Yay, another win for WE, the PEOPLE. I guess I don't have the vanity required to believe politicians need to focus on me specifically. I want them to focus on what WE need, not what I need. Because in general, I believe in the greater good for all of us. I try to winnow this down to a few words, but can't. It's a global overview thing I have. I am not I. I am a part of WE. If that's naïveté, so be it.
Funny. The clueless who felt ignored by dems will now be taking a big hit from trump and his clown corps. False equivalence is not a bright way to decide what is right and wrong. Some Nazis were good, right? There were good people on both sides. Pete is great and should run fro president. These both sides podcasts that aren't quite as racist as rogan are simply condoning the worst of everything by blaming both sides for their station in life. Sad.
"Trump has gained momentum." Worst is yet to come. Donald "The Beast" Trump is building a wall once again. Colossal tariff wall that is the beginning of the end for the system of down. At first the beast will pull the plug out of the global economy. The worst financial crisis of human history will pull a swarm of the banks underwater and the bank run begins. Then the beast will collapse a mountain of debt shattering the backbone of the monetary system causing a systemic risk to realize. Finally the beast will cast American citizens into a system slavery under the name of Ronald Wilson Reagan, just to "honor his legacy" count the number. After the destruction a new world order will be established in the US. And the Golden Age begins from the ruins of the world wide collapse. All of the system slaves will love it. No more cash - just digital transactions. No more traditional criminal activity. No more tax evasion. No more transactions without the "all seeing eye". Outcasts will hate the world without freedom, hope and privacy. To cover up the mess and distract the public by smoke and mirrors, the beast will engage in a war with Iran. Lies and deceit, corruption and decay, dancing on the graves will continue. Until; Black hole sun, won't you come, won't you come... I want to play a game. Time has come to opt out of the empire of filth. Live or die...
Highly recommend watching this entire podcast, even if you can only watch in 30 minute increments. It shows how truly adept Pete Buttigieg is at talking to the American people. I think with the help of the interviewer we can really see where Kamala fell short and why, even though I'd vote for her again. We're at a point now where we need to meet people where they are at, not be so far left that we can't see the value in their opinions as well. I think whoever runs on the Democratic ticket needs to determine the 5 things that matter most to people and have an actual plan to accomplish those things and even put those plans in motion before all the campaigning begins. I think they need to run some focus groups too and find out where people are at.
Totally concur on this, you can't "shut people down" and expect them to come back and vote for you. I too have felt that the party I've been with all my life may have to change their tune a good bit to be more "inclusive" to those who truly don't know a whole lot about what is going on in the world today. Instead of being "snobby or elite" they all need to be more themselves, after all the ones that got into office obviously must have acted more like that when they originally campaigned for the offices they got along the way. It's the best way to go for everyone, I have often said, I would rather vote for someone on their integrity, commitment, drive and capabilities rather than how much "money" they can get in their coffers to "compete" with other candidates. If you somehow could take the bulk of money out of the mix (when news reporters are always saying "Oh so and so has made so much MONEY for the campaign they are sure to win" they SHOULD be talking more about how capable they appear to be and confident in their commitments to the job they seek.
Inflation is a major issue that is and will continue to confront the average American everyday and tariffs will make inflation worse Bandaids such as housing subsidies and giving more govt handouts is understandably not bought by Americans They have to be convinced that there is a real solution Therein lies the need for education of the public electorate
The point is that America doesn't know how to get out of the economic mess we're in and both political parties are incoherent on the subject because they have bought into the Keynesian economic narrative that has crippled Western economies We need better economic leadership
The point is that the fiat dollar has lost 90% of its purchasing power since 1971 when the country went off a gold standard With the Fed using QE to pour more money into the pot America and the global economy has become awash in dollar causing the markets to go sky high and created a billionaire class of citizens who now want to govern and a huge wealth gap
This will not end well unless Democrats take charge of this narrative
Yes! Meet people where they are, not where you think they should be!! Well done, Mayor Pete! Now, the rest of the Democrat messengers need to learn this!
Well written and thanks for being in the conversation (and action). Does your group or Lincoln Square take others in for volunteer work on messaging, tech, or other activities to save our democracy?
I watched the entire almost 3 hour podcast, and it was so worth it. I admit, as a fellow Hoosier and being from a town very close to South Bend, I'm totally biased towards Mayor Pete (yes, we still call him that). But he really is well spoken, and doesn't rattle easily. He doesn't take the bait when someone tries to get under his skin. I'm just waiting to see what he does next.

Need more of Pete out there speaking. Good article.

IMHO a gold standard needs to be reinstated
Why this man should be out next president.
Yes! Meet people where they are, not where you think they should be!! Well done, Mayor Pete! Now, the rest of the Democrat messengers need to learn this!
If the Best Man won, it would be Pete.

Excellent article!! Now we need about 100 other Democrats to understand and learn from Pete Buttigieg & to get out there and get their asses busy!!
I found the article very helpful. Thank you!
