Yes, He's Saying It Again: "It's A Witch Hunt."
How do you know accusations against Trump or his lackeys are true? Trump calls them a witch hunt.
“It’s a witch hunt,” Donald J. Trump…again.
We know Trump’s pattern by now.
It never happened.
Some say it happened. I don’t know. If it did happen, it was someone else’s fault.
It did happen but it didn’t matter.
It happened in previous administrations and it was bad then but it’s fine when we do it.
It did or didn’t happen and I knew or didn’t know but this possibly true thing is a made-up story by the fake news media and a witch hunt targeting a very good (insert white man’s name here) who I know very well and trust.
I’ve never heard of the guy the fake news media said did this. If I have heard of him, it’s only because he made coffee runs. (We’re not quite at this stage yet on this story)
Trump’s predictability makes him no less dangerous. In fact, it’s his confidence that the denials, lies, and blame-shifting will work that makes him increasingly dangerous.
Apparently, we are to take some degree of comfort in knowing that Kash Patel at the FBI and Trump’s political appointees at the Pentagon are investigating the incident. No, not the part about military strike plans being discussed in a Signal chat to which The Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg had been invited to join by National Security Adviser Michael Waltz. The “investigation” is looking into how Jeffrey Goldberg came to be in the Signal group disclosing strike plans on Houthi rebels in Yemen. And yes, you did just read that National Security Adviser Michael Waltz invited him to the group. Perhaps they’re investigating how Michael Waltz could be so colossally stupid and careless, but I doubt it.
It should be a short investigation given that Jeffrey Goldberg published this, as well as the full text-string he was included on in the stealthily-named “Houthi PC small group.” Well, and that Michael Waltz admitted he inadvertently invited Goldberg before Trump began denying it.
But, never one to let facts get in the way of a good deflection of responsibility, Trump had this to say yesterday afternoon about Jeffrey Goldberg and The Atlantic:
If it sounds as though Trump is describing a conference call, that’s because he obviously has no idea what Signal is, or perhaps what “apps” are. I would not assume his ignorance is due to a lack of attempts to brief him. It’s more likely that he has been told numerous times, sat in on discussions about the breach, and was either distracted by some internal monologue about becoming Emperor of Earth, thoughts of cheeseburgers or is simply incapable of understanding and retaining new information due to his steep cognitive decline.
Fear Not! Tulsi’s On The Job!
If the Signal debacle has you concerned that the Trump Administration’s eye isn’t on the ball when it comes to national security… well, I’m afraid I have nothing comforting to share.
It should come as a shock to no one that Russia’s “girl,” Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, has announced America’s top national security threat and it isn’t Russia, China, Iran, or bumbling National Security Adviser Michael Waltz.
It’s fentanyl trafficking.
Fentanyl trafficking is still an important issue and the tragedies of addiction and overdose deaths cannot and should not be minimized. However, thanks to efforts on state and local levels, and the work of the Biden Administration, overdose deaths nationwide are down to pre-pandemic levels with every state and the District of Columbia seeing a drop. In Biden’s final year in office, fentanyl overdose deaths decrease by more than 30%.
But those facts, and facts in general, aren’t part of the Trump Administration’s calculus on, really anything, and certainly not national security. We can count on the administration to ignore these inconvenient improving numbers and instead continue to use highly suspect claims of “drug cartel involvement” to deport immigrants without due process and disappearing them into Salvadoran prisons. ‘Merica! or is it AmeriKKKa?
Keep speaking up and standing up, folks. Do not allow your members of Congress, Republican or Democratic, to get comfortable. 5Calls.org is an easy-to-use tool to let your representatives in Washington know where you stand and the actions you expect them to take to push back constantly on Trump’s authoritarianism. Organize a rally. Attend town hall events in your district - if your members of Congress they aren’t holding them, then demand they do. We’re all in this together and together we’re powerful!
I don't know how many times "HE'S" claimed that he's clueless or had no idea about what is going on. If this is the case I think we NEED another to take the reins because "HE'S" as inept as the people he appointed! Had to edit I wished I had a dollar for every time I've heard "HIM" say "Witch Hunt" it's stale and unimpressive anymore!
Having spent years and I do mean years dealing with GAO where are they? They’re outside the Exec branch They’re 100% independent and completely reliable. Or National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA). I trust no one inside the Exec branch to have the independence needed. So if they want ground truth it must be outside Of course they go not want ground truth otherwise we would not be here.
